About The Position

UPMC is hiring a Full-Time, Intake Coordinator to support the Child Advocacy Center in Harrisburg. This role serves as the first point of contact for investigators and families seeking forensic interviews and medical evaluations for children with suspected abuse. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for gathering information, triaging concerns, and determining the next appropriate steps, approaching their work with discretion, compassion, professionalism, and strong attention to detail.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Health or Human Services or an equivalent level of experience.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in healthcare or community service social work.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33
  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a Human Services.
  • Knowledge of child protective services definitions and acronyms a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented, preferred
  • Experience in Human Services, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a fashion that coincides with the service philosophy of UPMC, including the demonstration of the Basics of Service Excellence towards patients, staff, peers, physicians and others both within UPMC and outside partners.
  • Must be flexible with responsibilities and have an exceptional ability to multitask and possessing excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to research required information such as demographics, Childline information, law enforcement jurisdictions, assigned caseworker contact info using all available resources.
  • Managing timely communication and coordination of all intake referrals with department staff and routing inbound calls to the appropriate team members.
  • Identifying any priority patients to be seen by working in conjunction with the Forensic Interview Lead as well as SANE RN Coordinator when needed.
  • Maintaining database entry of patient's information into EPIC including concern type, date and time of determined appointments to provide critical information to department staff.
  • Prioritizing tasks to maximize patient access by answering phones and utilizing available slots in an efficient manner.
  • Scheduling appropriately determined appointments (forensic interview, medical evaluations) in a timely manner as determined by the CAC while working to accommodate the scheduling requests of outside partnering agencies and families.
  • Answering inbound referral calls and assisting MDT partners and families with requests for forensic interviews and medical evaluations.
