About The Position

Supervise the daily operations of patient intake and/or admissions, which may include call and referral management, scheduling of assessments and admissions, completion of benefit verification, and prioritization of completion of all pre-certifications. For the assigned shift, the supervisor will plan, assign, supervise, and perform duties to ensure patient safety and the efficiency of the department. This includes prioritizing potential admissions based on patient needs and the facility’s capability and capacity, knowledge of milieu management, and appropriate clinical assessment, diagnoses, and interventions. The role also involves coordination with the business office for financial counseling, providing guidance and direction to staff, ensuring EMTALA logs are completed, participating in staff training as a preceptor, reporting shift challenges, and demonstrating a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude while resolving patient complaints and prioritizing patient safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social service field is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in a social services field preferred or RN preferred.
  • In some states, may also be a registered nurse, in which case, an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
  • One or more years’ experience in a healthcare admissions role preferred.
  • One or more years’ supervisory/lead in a healthcare admissions setting experience preferred.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification preferred (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be preferred based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of patient intake and/or admissions.

  • Coordinate with the business office for timely and accurate financial counseling.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff, fostering mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.
  • Ensure EMTALA logs are completed for each patient seen by admissions.
  • Participate in staff training by serving as a preceptor for new employees.
  • Report shift challenges promptly to AOC or Admissions Director.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude.
  • Acknowledge and work to resolve patient complaints.
  • Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
