About The Position

Reasons Eating Disorder Center is seeking candidate professionals, preferably with previous experience working with eating disorders, trauma, substance use and LGBTQIA+ communities to provide compassionate care to both adult and adolescent patients in our Reasons Inpatient eating disorder program at BHC Alhambra Hospital. BHC Alhambra Hospital is located in the beautiful city of Rosemead, California. Our 115 bed facility established in 1924 prides itself on upholding a standard of excellence that allows our patients to take the first step to recovery. BHC Alhambra Hospital is a private, fully accredited, full-service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. BHC Alhambra is dedicated to providing quality behavioral health, substance abuse, and eating disorder treatment. We offer inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient options for individuals in the communities of the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County, and surrounding areas. The Reasons Intake and Admissions Coordinator responsibilities include: maintaining knowledge of resources in the Eating Disorders field, facilitating eating disorder admissions by completing the psychodiagnostic Point of Contact phone assessments as assigned by Director of Admissions for potential patients, being familiar with APA guidelines and level of care criteria for the treatment of eating disorders, being familiar with DSM diagnostic criteria for eating disorders and cooccuring diagnoses, coordinating with referral sources for additional information to maximize admissions to all levels of care within the Reasons eating disorder programs at BHC Alhambra Hospital.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field.
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills, preferred; strong clinical assessment skills, preferred.
  • For a specialty program (for example, Eating Disorders) experience be with that population is preferred.
  • In lieu of experience specialized education and training may be acceptable.
  • Therapist must be master’s prepared or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Admission and Referral Protocol and complete Point of Contact assessments as assigned.
  • Ensure Point of Contact assessments are turned into Director in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of bio-psychosocial factors and DSM-IV and V criteria related to the ages of the patients served, and incorporate the knowledge base into the Point of Contact assessment.
  • Responds appropriately to telephone inquiries, providing accurate information, in an empathic manner.
  • Responds in a timely manner to Director of Admission.
  • Process all requests for information to all referral sources, potential patients, or family members in consultation with Director of Admissions.
  • Communicate effectively with potential patients, families, health care team members and community providers regarding assessment and recommendations.
