About The Position

This role is responsible for verifying insurance authorizations for all new patients, both primary and secondary payors. The position ensures the accuracy of data entry for new patients and confirms that all necessary information is gathered and that referrals are appropriate for the care being provided. The Insurance Verifier/Estimator must verify patient eligibility for services and ensure prior approval has been granted before initiating services. This role also involves collecting insurance policy IDs, verifying benefits, checking price estimates for procedures, and notifying patients of estimated charges. Additionally, the position explains patient deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses, documents all patient and provider contact in NextGen, handles pre-registration and registration, and receives incoming calls. The role communicates patient information to the physician and team, alerts vendors of implant needs, orders lunch for the physician daily, and serves as a backup for the front desk.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years experience in the medical office setting preferably with surgical scheduling responsibilities and extensive public contact.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as an Insurance Verification Representative.

Responsibilities

  • Verify all new patients’ insurance authorizations both primary and secondary payors.
  • Verify accuracy of data entry for all new patients.
  • Ensure that all information is gathered and Latern referral is appropriate for the care being potentially provided.
  • Verify the patient is eligible for service(s) and prior approval has been granted before initiating services.
  • Provide necessary paperwork to accurately bill accounts; and other duties as assigned.
  • Collect insurance policy IDs and verifying benefits and checking price estimates for procedures scheduled.
  • Notify patients of estimated charges based on claims processed to date.
  • Explain patient’s deductibles and out of pocket expenses as necessary.
  • Document all contact with patients, doctors, and insurance companies in NextGen.
  • Pre-registration and registration of patients, receiving and directing incoming calls.
  • Communicate to physician and team regarding patient information.
  • Responsible for alerting vendors of implant needs.
  • Order lunch for physician daily.
  • This role is also the back up person to the front desk.
