About The Position

The Insurance Benefits Representative verifies patient eligibility and insurance benefits, handles managed care matters, and maintains referrals on a monthly basis. The role includes supporting patients and clinical business office teams by explaining insurance coverage and addressing insurance-related issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in medical billing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and confidentiality laws.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Team-oriented approach.
• Knowledge of Excel, insurance benefits, coordination of benefits, and managed care referrals.
• Ability to verify eligibility and benefits, and familiarity with insurance company policies, terms, and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Verify all insurance, including managed care policies, monthly.
• Notify other departments about uninsured or under-insured patients.
• Resolve managed care issues, including authorizations for services, billing, and claims payments.
• Explain insurance benefits, insurance issues, and managed care coverage to patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
