About The Position

This role supports a premier oncology practice by verifying patients’ insurance coverage, processing prior authorization requests, and evaluating requests for coverage authorizations based on medical necessity. The specialist interacts with providers and health plans about utilization management and referral authorization inquiries, and also performs some financial counseling duties. The position is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Marlton, New Jersey, and is fully onsite.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of prior authorization experience.
• Experience with authorizations for specialty medications or prescriptions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Verify medical insurance coverage for patients.
• Process prior authorization requests with accurate data entry.
• Evaluate requests for coverage authorizations based on medical necessity.
• Handle telephone calls and interact with providers and health plans.
• Set up arrangements or monthly installment plans for patients to pay off balances within hospital guidelines.
• Follow up on missed payments within three days.
• Discuss outstanding balances with patients seeking future services.
• Make collection calls on self-pay and private-pay accounts starting at 60 days without payment.
• Maintain knowledge of programs offered by the provider.
