Insurance Verification Specialist
About The Position
At R1, the Insurance Verification Specialist helps ensure accurate insurance verification, supports collections efforts, and contributes to a positive financial experience for patients in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role verifies insurance coverage, communicates with patients, payers, and internal teams, and manages multiple accounts while maintaining accuracy and timeliness. Success requires attention to detail, adaptability, organization, and the ability to work effectively under pressure while managing changing priorities. This is an onsite position at Ascension Dell Seton Medical Center - University of Texas. The schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with participation in an Emergency Department on-call rotation twice per month and some holiday work as needed.
Requirements
- Previous insurance verification experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong multitasking, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage accurately and efficiently.
- Support collections efforts and help address patient financial responsibilities appropriately.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments to resolve insurance-related issues.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in the Emergency Department on-call rotation twice per month and work some holidays as needed.
