About The Position

The Insurance Verification Specialist (also described as a Prior Authorization Specialist) supports patient care and insurance coverage at a premier oncology practice. The role verifies insurance coverage, processes prior authorization requests, evaluates coverage requests based on medical necessity, and communicates with providers and health plans about utilization management and referral authorization inquiries. It also includes financial counselor responsibilities, such as arranging patient payment plans, following up on missed payments, discussing outstanding balances, and making collection calls. This is a contract-to-hire position based in Marlton, New Jersey, and is fully onsite. The advertised pay range is $25.00 per hour.

Requirements

At least 2 years of prior authorization experience.
Experience with authorizations for specialty medications or prescriptions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Verify patients’ medical insurance coverage.
Process prior authorization requests with accurate data entry.
Evaluate requests for coverage authorizations based on medical necessity.
Handle telephone calls and interact with providers and health plans.
Set up arrangements or monthly installment plans for patients to pay off balances within hospital guidelines.
Follow up on missed payments within three days.
Discuss outstanding balances with patients seeking future services.
Make collection calls on self-pay and private-pay accounts starting at 60 days without payment.
Maintain knowledge of programs offered by the provider.
