About The Position

A company built to serve you. It's your career, Shelter it! We are seeking an exceptional entrepreneur to make a difference in Merrillville, IN and become our newest Shelter Insurance Agent. This role is for individuals who have a desire to meet new people, develop new contacts, become known in their community, and are passionate about serving their community. It offers the opportunity to grow sales, business, and networking skills, control one's own income, and start a business with minimal start-up costs. Shelter Insurance does not require previous insurance industry background; backgrounds can range from real estate and retail sales to education and coaching. A motivated attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, and skilled capacity for effectively communicating with clients in a sales atmosphere are required. While some sales experience and a degree with general business courses are helpful, the company provides new agent training schools (in-house and virtual) and continuing education courses. Shelter does not require prospective agents to have capital/assets on hand or sell/loan agencies. Expectations are to meet sufficient sales requirements and core business proficiencies. Financial responsibilities upon departure are limited to unsatisfied bills like advertising contracts, telephone bills, and utilities. A true business owner’s mindset is required. While developing prospects and selling Shelter products will be the main focus, there may be opportunities to bring on staff for administrative duties and sales support.
