About The Position

Turner Industries Group, L.L.C. is hiring experienced Insulators/Metalmen for a maintenance job in Painesville, Ohio. The role involves covering boilers, pipes, tanks, refrigeration units, and other equipment with insulating materials to reduce heat loss or absorption, prevent moisture condensation, and deaden sound. Knowledge of industrial piping and equipment insulation is required. The position is ideal for local candidates; no per diem is available. Employees must pass a craft test and safety council courses in English, and must be available for overtime and call-outs as needed.

Work includes installing and finishing insulation on piping, boilers, machinery, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, and ventilation systems. The work may require using hand tools and equipment, following procedures, plans, and blueprints, and recognizing and reporting safety hazards. Employees may be required to provide specified tools and equipment. Qualification includes three years of experience in the specified skill, depending on mechanic level, a written pre-employment qualification test, and post-offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation.

Requirements

• Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including climbing, balancing, lifting 30 to 50 pounds, carrying, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Ability to follow procedures and directions, apply basic mathematics, plan work, select tools, understand sizes and shapes, interpret drawings or diagrams, and recognize and report safety hazards.

Responsibilities

• Insulate boilers, pipes, tanks, refrigeration units, and other equipment to reduce heat transfer, prevent condensation, and deaden sound.
• Install and finish insulation on steam and hot-water piping, boilers, evaporators, turbines, machinery, refrigeration and air-conditioning piping, valves, fittings, and ventilation systems.
• Cut, fit, wire, staple, and cement insulation materials and protective coverings as needed.
• Fabricate and install detachable insulation covers for valves and similar fittings.
• Follow work procedures, standards, oral or written directions, plans, and blueprints.
• Plan work and select appropriate tools; recognize and report safety hazards.
• Work overtime and respond to call-outs as needed.
