About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring an Insulator/Metalman to apply, remove, and repair insulating material on exposed surfaces and structures, including air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings. The work helps control noise and maintain temperatures. The role may include other assigned duties. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of journeyman-level experience.
• NCCER certification.
• TWIC certification.
• Driver’s license.
• Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
• Able to work at heights without fear.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and select required insulation materials.
• Work at heights.
• Apply adhesives to insulation material or attach metal adhesive applications to it.
• Determine the amount and select insulation materials in sheet, tubular, or roll form based on heat-retention properties, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Measure and cut insulation to specified sizes and shapes using a tape measure or other measuring device and a handsaw, knife, or scissors.
• Fit, wrap, or attach insulation to structures according to blueprint specifications.
• Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, using tools such as a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
