About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring an Insulator Metalman to apply, remove, and repair insulating material on exposed surfaces and structures—including air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings—to help control noise and maintain temperatures. The role involves selecting and preparing insulation materials, measuring and cutting them to size, fitting them to structures according to blueprints, and securing or sealing the insulation. Other duties may be assigned.

The work takes place in industrial and construction environments and may involve working at heights, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces. Employees may encounter weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards. The employee must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and meet applicable customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements. Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position; applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Requirements

• NCCER certification.
• Valid TWIC Card.
• Driver’s License.
• Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting or moving up to 25 pounds regularly and potentially up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.
• Able to read, comprehend, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies; exercise sound judgment; solve problems; maintain attention to detail; manage stress; and adapt to changing priorities.
• Able to meet applicable PPE, customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Four years of experience as an insulator is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and select required insulation materials.
• Work at heights.
• Apply adhesive to insulation material or attach metal adhesive application to it.
• Determine quantities and select insulation materials based on their heat-retention properties, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
• Measure and cut insulation materials to specified sizes and shapes using a measuring device and a handsaw, knife, or scissors.
• Fit, wrap, or attach insulation to structures according to blueprint specifications.
• Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, using tools such as a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
• Perform other assigned duties.
• Perform job duties in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
