About The Position

The Instrument Fitter is responsible for assembling, mounting, and installing control panels, instruments, and associated sensing devices. This role involves planning and executing installations according to manufacturer instructions, specifications, and drawings. The fitter will also assemble and install necessary supports, measure and install small bore piping for pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and perform pressure testing. A key aspect of this role is the ability to read and interpret various technical drawings, including P&IDs, details, location plans, schematics, and isometrics. The position requires meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to maintaining an orderly and clean work area. Regular maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment, and instrumentation are also part of the duties. The role involves preparing and recording QC installation documents, and participating in installation inspections with engineers and clients. Physical capability to work in a construction environment, including walking, climbing, working in confined spaces and elevated areas, and lifting up to 40lbs, is essential. This position typically requires 48 months of industrial construction experience.

Requirements

• Extensive tubing bending and installation experience.
• Able to read drawings: P&IDs, Details, Location, Schematics, Isometrics, etc.
• Works in a timely manner, accurately and maintains an orderly and clean work area.
• Physically able to work within a construction environment; including extensive walking, climbing, confined spaces, elevated work areas and lifting of tools and equipment up to 40lbs.
• Typically has 48 months of industrial construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to established company policies and procedures, paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Assemble, mount, and install control panels, instruments, and associated sensing devices that measure, indicate, transmit, record, and control.
• Plan layout and installation in accordance with manufacturer instructions, specifications, issued design details, and drawings.
• Assemble and install instrument stands, brackets, trays, clamps, and hangers as required to properly secure instrumentation and other associated components.
• Measure, cut, thread, and install small bore piping typically associated with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Perform pressure testing of installed tubing and small bore pipe as required to prove integrity of the system.
• Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment, and instrumentation (both installed and pre-installed).
• Prepare and record QC installation documents.
• Perform installation inspections with Engineers and Client as per Installation Testing Procedures (ITPs).
