Instrument Fitter Helper
About The Position
This role involves assisting Journeymen Fitters in the assembly, mounting, and installation of control panels, instruments, and associated sensing devices. The helper will also be responsible for assembling and installing instrument stands, brackets, and hangers, as well as measuring, cutting, threading, and installing small bore piping for pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Additionally, the position requires assisting with tubing bending and installation, performing pressure testing, and maintaining tools and equipment. The job is physically demanding and requires adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Physically able to work within a construction environment; including extensive walking, climbing, confined spaces, elevated work areas and lifting of tools and equipment up to 40lbs.
- Typically requires at least 6 months of industrial construction experience.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
- Perform work as directed by Foreman and Journeymen Fitters.
- Assist fitters with assemble, mount and installs control panels, instruments, associated sensing devices that measure, indicate, transmit, record and control.
- Assemble and install instrument stands, brackets, trays, clamps and hangers as required to properly secure instrumentation and other associated components.
- Measure, cut, thread and install small bore piping typically associated with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Assist with tubing bending and installation.
- Perform pressure testing of installed tubing and small bore pipe as required to prove integrity of system.
- Work in a timely manner, accurately per instructions and, maintain an orderly and clean work area.
- Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and instrumentation (both installed and pre-installed).
