About The Position

The Instructor for the Program for Successful Employment (PSE) provides primary instructional leadership and classroom instruction for students with cognitive and developmental disabilities. This position is responsible for delivering and coordinating curriculum, assessing student learning, and supporting academic and workforce readiness outcomes. The Instructor serves as a liaison for adjunct instructors, providing instructional guidance, curriculum alignment, and ongoing support to ensure consistency across PSE courses. The Instructor may also provide limited, field-based instructional or job-coaching support outside of class time to reinforce instructional objectives, in collaboration with Transition Specialists.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Vocational Education, Workforce Development, Rehabilitation Counseling, Adult Education, or a closely related instructional field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching or providing instructional support to students with cognitive or developmental disabilities.
  • Experience developing, modifying, and delivering curriculum in inclusive or special education settings.
  • Experience coordinating instruction or providing guidance to adjunct, part-time, or paraprofessional instructional staff.
  • Ability to teach in face-to-face and online instructional environments.
  • A combination of relevant education, professional training, and directly related experience may be substituted for the required education and experience, provided the applicant demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Workforce Development, Adult Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instructional Design or related field.
  • Special Education (Mild/Moderate) Teaching Certification
  • K–12 or Adult Education Teaching Certification
  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)
  • Five (5) or more years of instructional experience in special education, inclusive postsecondary education, or workforce-focused programs.
  • Experience providing job coaching or field-based instructional support to students with disabilities in educational, vocational, or community settings.
  • Experience in curriculum design, instructional planning, and differentiated instruction for students with cognitive or developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working collaboratively with parents, guardians, and families to support student success and transition planning.
  • Experience representing a program at community events, transition fairs, outreach activities, or informational sessions.
  • Experience collaborating with community partners, schools, and service agencies supporting transition-to-employment or postsecondary education initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Teach face-to face and online PSE courses using evidence-based instructional strategies appropriate for students with exceptionalities.
  • Develop, modify, and oversee implementation of curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with workforce readiness and program objectives.
  • Serve as the instructional liaison for adjunct instructors, including onboarding support, curriculum guidance, alignment of instructional practices, and ongoing communication.
  • Administer, score, and interpret academic and vocational assessments; evaluate and document student progress.
  • Represent the program at community events, transition fairs, outreach activities, and informational sessions to support student recruitment, family engagement, and public awareness of the program.
  • Coordinate student transition from classroom instruction to employment in collaboration with transition specialist, ensuring instructional alignment with workplace expectations.
  • Provide limited and occasional field-based instructional or job coaching support to students during non-instructional hours to reinforce classroom learning.
