About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for POLI 1P97 Winter D3. This course focuses on familiarizing students with the impact of politics, economics, culture, society, and globalization on Canada's role in the community of nations. It includes aspects of the Canadian political system in comparative perspective and trends in Canada's political development. Duties and responsibilities align with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement and include scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Political Science with demonstrated university training (course work and/or thesis focus) indicating the candidate’s ability to teach a first-year course in political science that focuses upon several dimensions of Canada’s relations with other nations.
  • Doctoral candidates in Political Science (with course work and comprehensive exams complete) will also be considered.
  • Successful teaching experience (as demonstrated by course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier)
  • Evidence of active research (e.g., thesis work, publications, conference presentations).

  • Course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
  • Responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course for instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent.
