About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a Tenure Track Instructor for Networking, starting Spring 2027. CSN, founded in 1971 and located in the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area, is Nevada's most ethnically diverse college and holds an HSI designation. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major or minor in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or any IT related degrees; OR, a bachelor’s degree in any discipline combined with substantial IT industry experience.
  • 2 years of teaching experience in higher education or K-12.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability as a teacher commensurate with experience.
  • Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related technology, engineering, or business degree.
  • AWS, Microsoft, Azure, CompTIA Network+, A+, Security+ Cisco certifications.
  • 5 years of teaching experience in higher education or K-12.
  • Experience teaching online and ground courses utilizing any learning management system.
  • Experience in System Administration particularly in cloud administration.
  • Experience in Network Administration/Engineering.
  • Experience with online quality teaching standards.
  • Experience networking with IT industry professionals to maintain a network of employers for students to connect with for advice, internships, and jobs.
  • Experience writing grants or obtaining funding for programs aimed to improve student learning outcomes and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses that prepare students for certifications in Linux, Microsoft technologies, Cisco CCNA 1, 2, 3, and CompTIA Network+.
  • Teach entry-level courses in networking.
  • Deliver courses in both classroom and online formats.
  • Be available to teach morning, afternoon, or evening classes, as well as weekdays or weekends.
  • Courses may be taught across multiple CSN campuses.
  • Oversee course scheduling within subject areas.
  • Manage specialty labs and classrooms.
  • Collaborate with faculty on course development and course resource selection.
  • Collaborate with department leadership and faculty to enhance academic programs.
  • Participate in department and college committees.
  • Participate in student assistance and advising.
  • Participate in college services activities.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
