About The Position

The Dental Hygiene Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in the didactic, clinical setting, or laboratory within the Dental Hygiene Program. The faculty member supports student learning and success through effective teaching strategies, assessment of student performance, student mentoring/advising, and adherence to program, institutional, and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or an Associate degree in Dental Hygiene with a related bachelor’s degree. The dental hygiene degree must be granted from a CODA Accredited Dental Hygiene Program.
  • 3 years of full-time (3 days a week or more) clinical dental hygiene experience.
  • Current NV Dental Hygiene License and local anesthesia & nitrous license.
  • Provide all vaccination/titers as required by the Dental Hygiene Program and/or healthcare facilities.
  • Current CPR Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Dental Hygiene, Public Health, or directly related field or currently enrolled in such degree.
  • 4+ years of full-time (3 days a week or more) clinical dental hygiene experience.
  • 1 yr or greater Dental Hygiene or dental related teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide didactic, clinical and/or lab instruction in the Dental Hygiene Bachelor program. Course assignments are at the discretion of the Program Director.
  • Supports student learning and success through effective teaching strategies, assessment of student performance, student mentoring/advising, and adherence to program, institutional, and accreditation standards.
  • Attend faculty development in-services and program review which may include nights and weekends.
  • Support the goals, missions, and core values of the dental hygiene program by building good relations through clear communication with the director, faculty, and students.
  • Adhere to the academic schedule, including the final exam schedule.
  • Maintain regular office hours per college policy.
  • Serve on committees when elected or appointed.
  • Evaluate student competencies and ensure compliance with program standards and requirements.
  • Supervise students during laboratory and clinical experiences to ensure safe and effective patient care.
