About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for Machining for FY 2027. This role involves providing lecture and lab instruction for Machine Tool Technology (MTT) courses. Responsibilities include demonstrating and assisting students with lab procedures, ensuring safety adherence, developing syllabi and course materials, instructing students according to curriculum standards, evaluating student mastery of skills, and meeting learning needs. The instructor will also provide advisement to students and attend staff meetings and recruitment activities as requested. Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.

Requirements

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Machining or related engineering field OR 5 years of relevant industry experience

  • 10 years work experience in Machining and or Manufacturing or Industrial Technologies
  • 2 years experience teaching in Career and Technical Education
  • Leadership/ Management Experience
  • Experience teaching on-line/hybrid classes, Canvas
  • Experience creating college curriculum
  • Experience developing an industrial lab in a college setting, such as a Machining, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Technologies
  • Experience working in diverse multicultural situations
  • Community college or technical school teaching experience
  • Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
  • Computer literate in MS Office
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines
  • Industrial Certifications such as NIMS, NC3

Responsibilities

  • Lecture and or Lab instruction for Machine Tool Technology (MTT) courses covering topics such as: Metrology, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Machining, CNC Milling and Turning (Lathe), CADD and Additive or Subtractive Manufacturing
  • Demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures and ensure adherence to safety precautions
  • Develop syllabi and course materials
  • Instruct students in accordance with curriculum standards and objectives
  • Independently evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes
  • Make necessary provisions to meet learning needs
  • Provide advisement to students
  • Attend staff meetings and recruitment activities as requested

Benefits

  • Salary: $925.00 per credit hour. Credits will vary by semester.
