About The Position

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), founded in 1953 and located in scenic Upstate NY, is a multi-campus institution with locations in Troy and Malta, New York. HVCC offers over 80 degree and certificate programs across three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). As part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, HVCC serves approximately 9,000 students annually and is a leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training, distance learning, and serving a diverse student population. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or Health Education from an accredited college or university.
  • Expansive experience in the health and fitness industry.
  • Demonstrated exemplary teaching experience in both physical education and exercise science related courses at the post-secondary level.
  • Daytime, in-person availability.
  • Current certifications in American Red Cross First Aid/CPR.
  • One or more nationally recognized fitness certifications (NSCA, ACSM, NCSF, or equivalent).
  • Ability to create and cultivate strong partnerships and associations with local leaders within the health and fitness industry.
  • Extensive experience in coordinating, supervising, managing, and evaluating student internships or other experiential learning opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated teacher effectiveness across multiple modalities in higher education.
  • Experience using D2L Brightspace.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective classroom and on-line instruction in both physical education and exercise science related courses within the department.
  • Assist with the continuation and growth of departmental partnerships/relationships with local health and fitness facilities.
  • Travel locally for the supervision and evaluation of student interns.
  • Evaluate student performance and success.
  • Participate in departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community.
  • Professional development is strongly encouraged and departmentally supported.
  • At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
