About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for the French 2F00 Grammar & Composition course for the Fall/Winter 2026-2027 academic year. This is a face-to-face delivery course. The position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group and is subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval. The instructor will be responsible for scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration. They will also work closely with the Director of French Studies for this single-section course.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree (PhD, PhD abd) in an area of French studies
  • Record of sustained successful teaching of second-year language courses in French at a University level
  • Native or near native fluency in English and French
  • Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International French
  • Evidence of teaching competence in second-year language courses in French at University level
  • Official student and peer evaluations
  • Teaching dossier
  • References
  • Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Clear comprehension of multi-section teaching
  • Active participation in curriculum development
  • Sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation
  • Student assessment
  • Prompt and accurate marking
  • Commitment to the incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources (including textbook instructional platform, etc.) in the teaching of the course, as required
  • Competence in the use of email, Brightspace, internet, common office software (e.g., Word, Excel) and multi-media equipment
  • Commitment to responsible time management (e.g., course structuring, punctuality for lectures)

  • Work closely with the Director of French Studies
  • Commitment to participate in required committee marking including online activities, mid-term and final exams
  • Availability for individual consultation with students (office hours 1.5 hours per section per week required)
  • Proctoring exams
