About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) DART 3P07 D2 (Fall) Clown Traditions, principles and performance of theatrical clown focusing on individual and collective creation, audience connection, improvisation and intuitive exercises to develop spontaneous play, resilience to failure and a response to impulse. Half course: Labs, 5 hours per week LABS: Tuesday 10:00 – 13:00, Thursday 10:00 – 12:00.

Requirements

  • PhD or MFA in clown, or a relevant, related discipline and training in recognized approaches to clown.
  • Significant professional and/or scholarly contributions to clown or a relevant, related discipline.
  • Successful, relevant, theoretically-informed post-secondary teaching experience. Evidence of teaching effectiveness will ideally consist of a complete teaching dossier. Previous course evaluations, peer teaching evaluations, teaching letters of recommendation, or equivalent objective, systematically collected evidence will also be considered.
  • Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, theatre pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices. Evidence of expertise will ideally demonstrate how these principles are integrated into the applicant’s post-secondary teaching. Expertise may include, for example, scholarly presentations or publications, development of professional practices, academic or professional leadership, consulting work, or professional development or training.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, the BrockDB online portal, the OASIS system for managing student accommodations, or equivalent systems in other institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
