About The Position

This position supports courses, programs, and initiatives delivered in various learning modalities, including in-person, blended, hybrid, and distance education. The role involves supporting teaching and learning technologies such as the UH-supported learning management system, productivity, communication, and collaboration tools, Generative AI tools, UH Google tools, and other educational technologies. The Instructor will collaborate with the Educational Media Center team and other campus units on professional development, projects, and initiatives. As part of a collaborative instructional design and technology team, the role is responsible for the design, development, assessment, and review of courses. This includes analyzing Subject Matter Expert content to define learning objectives, developing and modifying instructional materials, activities, and assessments, and creating aesthetically pleasing, well-designed courses and materials. The position also focuses on designing, developing, assessing, and promoting innovative instructional strategies for adult learners, and working closely with faculty and staff to produce accessibility-compliant multimedia and instructional materials. The role involves researching and implementing new technologies, participating in professional learning communities, and partnering with faculty, staff, administration, and students to promote and implement instructional technologies. Additionally, the Instructor will produce and maintain accessibility-compliant tutorials and procedures, assist instructors in using technology for assessment and differentiated instruction, and contribute to campus accreditation and distance education strategic planning by collecting and analyzing data.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Learning Design and Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design and Technology, Instructional Design and Development, Educational Communication and Technology, Instructional Systems Technology, or Learning Experience and Design.
Minimum qualifications (degrees and credits) must be earned from regionally or nationally accredited postsecondary colleges and universities recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and met by the effective date of appointment.

Nice To Haves

Two years of demonstrated experience in educational technology, instructional design, and distance education.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in distance education planning, implementing, and managing policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience consulting with or coaching instructors to use instructional technologies in support of in-person, blended, hybrid, and online courses.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in developing curriculum and effective instructional media (i.e., video, audio, images, animations, interactive modules, and Open Educational Resources).
Demonstrated experience using a course/learning management system, preferably the UH-supported LMS, Brightspace.
Teaching experience in higher education (preferably at the community college level and in distance education).
Ability to use productivity, communication, and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Chat, Google Drive/Docs, MS Office, Zoom), social media tools (e.g., blogs, YouTube, online communities), mobile applications, and immersive technologies.
Ability to use Generative AI tools (e.g., Google Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Brightspace Lumi) to enhance teaching, learning, and productivity.
Familiarity with current educational frameworks (such as student-centered learning, active learning, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Backward Design), including specific strategies and specific technology tools used to implement them.
Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations associated with higher education and distance education, such as the Fair Use Act, Higher Education Opportunities Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act, including familiarity with making online content accessibility-compliant.
Ability to prioritize workload, multitask, and meet strict deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work in a team.

Responsibilities

Supports courses, programs, and initiatives delivered in various learning modalities (e.g., in-person, blended, hybrid, and distance education (DE)).
Supports teaching and learning technologies, such as, but not limited to: UH-supported learning management system, productivity, communication, and collaboration tools, Generative AI tools, UH Google tools, and educational technologies.
Collaborates with the Educational Media Center team and other campus units and instruction on professional development, projects, and initiatives.
Works as an integral part of a collaborative instructional design and technology team responsible for the design, development, assessment, and review of courses, which include analyzing the Subject Matter Expert's content to define learning objectives, develop and modify instructional materials, activities, and assessments, and create aesthetically pleasing, well-designed courses and course materials.
Designs, develops, assesses, and promotes innovative instructional strategies to meet the needs of adult learners.
Works closely with faculty and staff to produce accessibility-compliant multimedia and instructional materials in support of curriculum.
Researches and implements new technologies to enhance teaching and learning effectiveness.
Actively participates in campus and systemwide professional learning communities (PLCs) initiatives that support instructional design, DE, and educational technology.
Partners with faculty, staff, administration, and students to promote, develop, and implement the use of instructional technologies.
Produces, collects, and maintains accessibility-compliant tutorials and procedures for campus-used instructional technologies.
Assists instructors in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, relevant, and engaging learning experiences for all students.
Contributes to the Integrated Planning and Budgeting Process by collecting and analyzing data and assessing services for use in overall evaluation, planning, management, and reporting of instructional technology and distance education.
Contributes to the campus accreditation process by collecting and analyzing data and assessing services for use in overall evaluation, planning, management, and reporting of instructional technology and distance education.
Contributes to the campus’ DE community, strategic plans, policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Performs other related tasks as assigned. Related tasks include, but are not limited to: assisting with campus-related services and activities; professional development and in-service trainings; collecting data and preparing reports; independently planning, organizing, and carrying out assignments.
