About The Position

Frostburg State University seeks qualified applicants for an Instructor/Assistant Professor in our Department of Nursing. Available to begin Fall 2026, this is a full-time, 10-month tenure-track faculty position with teaching, service, and professional development responsibilities. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included. The Department of Nursing at FSU provides a variety of undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and pathways including a new online LPN to BSN, a new on-campus BSN program, an online RN to BSN, and four graduate nursing concentrations. This faculty position is to teach primarily within the undergraduate on-campus and online programs. Requirements

  • Earned graduate degree in nursing or graduate degree in another field with a nursing teaching certificate from a regionally accredited university.
  • Unrestricted license or eligible for RN licensure in Maryland.
  • Recent clinical nursing practice and/or considerable professional development related to clinical nursing practice.
  • Evidence of leadership skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned or in progress doctoral degree in nursing or related field.
  • Earned doctorate is required to come in at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities

  • Teach online and face-to-face in both didactic and clinical courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Advise undergraduate students.
  • Design curriculum and design and coordinate curriculum in area of specialty/expertise.
  • Devote efforts to scholarly activities and professional development.
  • Provide service activities to the department, college, university, community, and/or profession.
  • Other academic duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining active practice is encouraged but not required.
