About The Position

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) within the Spears School of Business (SSB) at Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites applications for a non-tenure-track, nine-month, career-track faculty position in Real Estate and Property Management at the level of Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of Professional Practice. The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching real estate and property management courses, advising students in the BSBA in Real Estate and Property Management and the Property and Real Estate Management Certificate, and engaging with industry partners to support student learning and program development. This position is located on the Stillwater campus. The salary is commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience and includes a competitive benefits package, contingent on available funds. The position offers an initial contract for three years and can be renewed. The start date is flexible, with a preferred start date of Spring 2027.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Ph.D. earned in real estate, property management, hospitality management, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three years of managerial or professional experience in real estate, property management, real estate finance, or property development is expected.
  • Strong relationships with real estate and property management industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrative personnel, industry stakeholders, and the local community.
  • The successful candidate must be academically qualified and be able to teach undergraduate courses in real estate or property management as well as adjacent areas.
  • Evidence of employment eligibility in the United States is required.

Nice To Haves

  • University or college teaching experience.
  • Industry certifications or an active real estate broker or salesperson license.
  • Development of educational and outreach programming.
  • Evidence of strong expertise in real estate and property management, including publications, applied research, or case study development.
  • Experience teaching in online or hybrid formats.
  • Additional experience in other aspects of hospitality or business education will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in real estate and property management, as well as other related areas as needed.
  • Develop and deliver courses in the online, hybrid, and face-to-face format based on the unit’s needs.
  • Develop new courses and curricular content to support the BSBA in Real Estate and Property Management and the Property and Real Estate Management Certificate.
  • Advise and mentor students enrolled in the Real Estate and Property Management concentration and certificate.
  • Support faculty and students in real estate and property management research and applied projects.
  • Be involved with student organizations, serve on committees, participate in faculty and curriculum development, and assume other responsibilities normally associated with a teaching faculty position at a land grant university.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships in outreach activities (e.g., training programs, executive education) with industry sectors.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to service and outreach activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the School and appropriate real estate and property management industry organizations and associated stakeholders.
