About The Position

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking an Instructional Materials Technician to direct the day-to-day operations of the Instructional Materials Unit. This role involves managing textbook and instructional material orders, overseeing their distribution to schools, researching and resolving discrepancies, and leading clerical staff. The position is responsible for processing and inventorying all TK-12 District-wide adopted curriculum, ensuring adequate inventory levels for school sites to meet enrollment needs and maintain Williams Act Compliance. This role requires ongoing interaction with suppliers and school sites/curriculum departments.

Requirements

  • Current classified monthly-salaried employee (not hourly) of the San Diego Unified School District.
  • Training in modern business practices.
  • Three years of recent, directly related experience of acceptable level and quality, including processing of instructional materials (may be substituted for a two-year degree on a year-for-year basis).
  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities typically acquired through training in modern business practices.
  • Ability to manage inventory, ordering, or distribution processes for instructional materials, textbooks, library resources, or similar supplies.
  • Ability to coordinate with school staff, vendors, and clerical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and resolve issues involving communication, inventory discrepancies, or delayed materials.
  • Must provide contact information for all previous places of employment where served in a classified (non-certificated) position.
  • Must include every school district, county office of education, charter school, other educational institutions, or state special school where employed, regardless of length of service.
  • Must provide the email address for each employer's Human Resources or Personnel Office.

Responsibilities
