About The Position

The Shop Technician serves as the primary custodian of the industrial maintenance parts and tools warehouse, responsible for receiving, organizing, inventorying, and delivering mechanical and electrical components to facility locations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the physical capability to handle materials daily while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting facility operations teams.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to obtain Class E commercial driver's license
  • 2-4 years experience in warehouse operations, parts distribution, or inventory management
  • Demonstrated ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and maneuver materials up to 100 lbs with assistance
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including inventory management systems, Word, and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
  • Ability to read and interpret parts catalogs, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with technicians, vendors, and management

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certified with current operator credential
  • Previous experience in industrial or commercial facility maintenance environment supporting HVAC, electrical, or mechanical trades
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software systems (CMMS) such as Corrigo, Maximo, or similar platforms
  • Experience with hazardous materials handling, storage, and documentation requirements

Responsibilities

  • Receive daily deliveries of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC parts from vendors and confirm accuracy against purchase orders
  • Move pallets and materials using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and manual handling equipment throughout warehouse and delivery locations
  • Organize warehouse storage areas to maintain accessibility, safety compliance, and efficient retrieval of parts and tools
  • Make scheduled deliveries of parts, tools, and equipment to technicians at various building locations across the campus
  • Maintain perpetual inventory counts and update tracking systems to reflect receipts, issues, and current stock levels
  • Issue tools and specialized equipment to facility staff using sign-out procedures and maintain accountability records
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage and coordinate returns or replacements with vendors and purchasing team
  • Load and unload Class E vehicles with parts and equipment for transport to job sites
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant warehouse environment
