About The Position

The Instructional Designer will provide pedagogical and course development support for faculty through consultation and dissemination of relevant instructional techniques and technologies. The position will provide academic instructional design consulting, guidance, and support to faculty and TA's, and will collaborate with content developers and other instructional designers and technologists for the consistent delivery of exemplary and accessible courses. Provide pedagogical support for faculty and other academic personnel in the educational design and development of learner-centered courses, instructional materials and active learning strategies. Work collaboratively with faculty, technical experts, media specialists, assessment specialists, learning space specialists, other CELT staff, and others to enable faculty to implement quality improvement in their courses and advance student learning, and add to the body of literature that supports teaching and learning. Design, develop and facilitate workshops, learning communities, and online training for faculty and staff on pedagogical best practices and appropriate integration of instructional technologies. These should encompass learning objectives, active learning strategies, assessment methods, learning space design, use of technology in the classroom and other topics related to University teaching. Engage in professional development to stay abreast of learning theories, pedagogical, and technological developments. Research current trends and developments in instructional design and innovative teaching strategies. Participate in local, state, regional and national professional associations, conferences and committees as appropriate. In performance of these job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes. Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Two [2] years of full-time experience working in instructional design.
  • Experience using instructional technologies.
  • Experience with designing and developing courses.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (or foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Three [3] or more years of full time experience working in instructional design.
  • Experience with digital accessibility.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience designing multimedia for education.
