About The Position

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Instructional Designer with 2–5 years of experience designing learning solutions in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, financial services, pharmaceuticals, utilities, manufacturing, aviation). You will design blended learning experiences that meet adult learners where they are—especially frontline and operational roles—and ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is proficient with Articulate Storyline, collaborates seamlessly in cross-functional teams, and can translate complex SOPs, policies, and systems workflows into clear, practical learning.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of Instructional Design experience in a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Articulate Storyline (variables, triggers, branching, accessibility features, custom interactions).
  • Strong grasp of adult learning theory (e.g., andragogy, Gagné, Merrill) applied to operational roles (frontline, production, service, logistics, contact center, field).
  • Experience transforming SOPs/policies into engaging, performance-based learning deliverables.
  • Proficiency in creating clear storyboards, design documents, and assessment strategies.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (SMEs, Compliance, QA, Legal, Ops).
  • Understanding of SCORM/xAPI, LMS workflows, and basic learning analytics.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and version control practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Science, or related field—or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in one or more of: FDA, GxP, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, OSHA, ISO, FAA environments.
  • Exposure to process training (e.g., safety, quality, operational excellence, systems & tools).
  • Familiarity with Articulate Rise, Vyond or Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Cloud basics.
  • Experience with xAPI analytics dashboards, data-informed iteration, and A/B testing.
  • Knowledge of change management (e.g., PROSCI/ADKAR) to support rollout of new processes or systems.
  • Graduate certificate or Master’s in Instructional Design/Learning Science a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs analyses, task analyses, and audience analyses for operational/field roles.
  • Design and develop SCORM/xAPI-compliant eLearning using Articulate Storyline (and Rise as needed), as well as job aids, microlearning, instructor-led training (ILT/VILT), and performance support.
  • Convert SOPs, work instructions, and regulatory/policy content into scenario-based, practice-driven learning aligned to adult learning principles (e.g., relevance, problem-centered tasks).
  • Build measurable learning objectives mapped to role competencies, quality metrics, and regulatory outcomes.
  • Partner with SMEs (Operations, QA/Compliance, Safety, Legal, Risk, Audit, IT) to validate accuracy, ensure regulatory alignment, and secure approvals.
  • Facilitate design reviews and user testing sessions with frontline team members and supervisors.
  • Work closely with L&D peers, project managers, and product/operations leaders to meet delivery timelines.
  • Ensure accessibility (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA), localization readiness, and brand/style adherence.
  • Develop and maintain design documents, storyboards, and version-controlled source files.
  • Support LMS/LRS testing, packaging (SCORM 1.2/2004 or xAPI), and QA for audit-readiness.
  • Define evaluation strategies using Kirkpatrick and behavioral/operational KPIs.
  • Analyze learner feedback and performance data to iterate and improve learning outcomes.
