About The Position

The Instructional Designer II is responsible for creating, updating, and delivering training material for both online and classroom learning. Additional responsibilities include conceptualizing, planning, designing, and producing a wide range of specialized multimedia and web programs for our Training and Development department.

Requirements

  • 2 Years – Experience in Field or similar manufacturing environment
  • 2 Years – Experience in Position
  • 2 Years – Experience managing people/projects (experience may include a combination of work experience and education)
  • Proficiency in Adult learning methods and pedagogy
  • Proficiency in Articulate 360 Suite, Vyond, Camtasia
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (CS6), specifically In Design, Flash Professional, Captivate, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier, After Effects, and Acrobat.
  • Comparable word processor, page layout, publishing, and illustration software acceptable as a substitute.
  • Knowledge of the creation and maintenance of wikis.
  • Multimedia skills: Proficient in manipulating and synchronizing audio files for use in e-learning
  • Experience with and willingness to do voice over work.
  • Ability to identify and interpret multimedia design needs and to develop creative and responsive design concepts.
  • General instructional design concepts, with an understanding of how a LMS functions and its role in deploying e-learning courses.
  • Able to clearly communicate how to perform complex technical tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Self-Motivated with a proven record of taking the initiative.
  • Able to work with moderate supervision.
  • Detail oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to execute tasks in a very dynamic and ever-changing environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design and other related fields or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop multimedia learning courses for Niagara’s learning management system with the assistance of the training team.
  • Meet project deadlines according to the department’s development calendar.
  • Report project progress in a manner consistent with department project management protocol.
  • Troubleshoot problems with multimedia content developed by less technical members of the Training and Development team.
  • Assist with the development of video and audio components for learning assets, potentially using image, audio, or video editing software.
  • Administer and maintain various media repositories for the department’s internal use.
  • Identify opportunities for multimedia technologies to enhance web and classroom-based instruction.
  • Assist in curriculum design for training programs and learning activities (instructor-led, online, alternative).
  • Assist in developing and writing content for traditional and e-learning training materials.
  • Maintain an understanding of Niagara’s LMS system, including its basic features, limitations, and functional requirements.
  • Serve as the multimedia technology trainer for staff on techniques and best practices for various media and graphics software.
  • Design learning solutions targeted at manufacturing employees.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
  • Evaluate the results of training programs and modify future programs to better meet business needs.
  • Determine the appropriate multimedia format for the target audience.
  • Develop and deliver training materials on company processes, products, and technologies.
  • Ensure the accuracy of generated documents and their formatting according to company/department standards.
  • Travel to other Niagara facilities to collaborate on documentation and support activities.
  • Travel as needed to Niagara Vendors or Customers to support related activities.
  • Manage web content and portals through SharePoint.
  • Perform newsletter, article, and other periodic writing duties as assigned.
  • Supervise select team members in Niagara Business Processes.
  • Provide leadership to adjacent work teams when their Manager is unavailable.
  • Influence individuals throughout the organization without direct authority.
