About The Position

Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization that offers an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders. The PRIDE Program at Pottsville Academy aims to empower students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives. This is a full-time position at the new PRIDE Program at Pottsville Academy, located at 2075 W. Norwegian St. Pottsville, PA 17901. The position is slated to open at the beginning of the 2026-2027 School Year.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Positively represent and promote BHA services.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team.
  • Communicate effectively utilizing both written and oral communication.
  • Basic computer literacy with Microsoft/Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Effectively utilize technology for communication and reporting needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Paraeducator experience from a previous school or agency, preferred.
  • Experience in working with children/students, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain classroom policies.
  • Tutor individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist in the administering and scoring a variety of tests according to student performance and behavior.
  • Perform routine clerical duties; operate classroom and office equipment including computers, copy machines, and other equipment.
  • Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio-visual equipment, operating educational training equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies.
  • Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
  • Direct group activities of students assigned; assist in monitoring students as directed.
  • Confer, as needed, with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
  • Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Assist in establishing Restorative Circles and implement the theory behind Restorative Practices in the classroom daily.
  • Assist in academic and behavioral charting, establishing classroom rules, and enforcing the TALID System.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration.
