About The Position

Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization that offers an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders. The PRIDE Program at Pottsville Academy aims to empower students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives. This role is for an anticipated opening for a full-time Educational Therapist for the new PRIDE Program at Pottsville Academy, which is slated to open at the beginning of the 2026-2027 School Year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and leadership team, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Positively represent and promote BHA Services.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Work both independently and as a team.
  • Communicate effectively utilizing both written and oral communication.
  • Basic computer literacy with Microsoft/Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Effectively utilize technology for communication and reporting needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a school setting or mental health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic and academic services to students.
  • Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
  • Utilize non-violent crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary.
  • Assist with delivery of academic instruction.
  • Document student observations/data.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, restorative, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and a part of the school community.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Be responsible for equipment and materials for the program.
  • Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
  • Have current lesson plans and appropriate materials available for use by any substitute, if necessary.
  • Work to stay current in subject and content area of instructional techniques.
  • Other duties assigned by Administration.
