Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of The Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for the position of Instructional Assistant Professor of Systems Engineering to begin Fall 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic-Serving Institution with over 8,000 students, located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The University advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement, and public service, with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. This is a fixed-term, non-tenure-track, nine-month Instructional Assistant Professor of Systems Engineering position. Initial appointments may be made for up to three years and renewed contingent upon satisfactory performance and institutional need. Primary duties will include contributing to the BS and MS in Systems Engineering by teaching courses across areas relevant to both programs. Potential teaching areas include operations research, systems simulation, facility layout and logistics, computer-integrated manufacturing, systems engineering management, engineering computational tools, advanced multivariate statistics, and advanced modeling and simulation. Instruction will emphasize project-based and hands-on learning. The successful candidate will also contribute to Senior Design projects as assigned. Duties also include teaching general engineering and other courses as needed by the School; mentoring students; and supporting experiential learning, curriculum development, ABET assessment and continuous improvement, recruitment, and School service. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The School of Engineering offers ABET-accredited programs in Systems, Computer, and Petroleum Engineering. Its BS in Computer Science and MS in Systems Engineering launched in 2026, and its BS in Civil Engineering launches in 2027. This position is part of a strategic faculty expansion in the School of Engineering to hire 10 permanent faculty members, eight tenure-track and two instructional, beginning Fall 2027.
