About The Position
This is a part-time, permanent position for an Instructional Assistant II working 6 hours per day at Thomas Edison Language Institute. The role involves working with students in mild/moderate special education programs, including Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Responsibilities include running small groups, assisting students in larger groups in Special Day Class or General Education settings, and supporting teacher needs. The position is for 9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week, with work hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Requirements

- Instructional Assistant II's mild/moderate - working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
- Candidates with any combination of experience and training which provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
- Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license (in some programs).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).

Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children.

- Coursework in child development highly desirable.
