About The Position

This is a new, part-time position for the Fall 2026 semester at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) within the Faculty of Arts. The course, FLS 1710 Section A, is an elementary French course for false beginners, focusing on written and oral comprehension skills. It involves listening to audio(-visual) materials and reading short texts, utilizing authentic documents and situations from the health sector. Both individual and group practice will be incorporated. The course is delivered online in a virtual mode and is scheduled for Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, from October 1 to December 10, 2026, excluding the reading week. This position is limited to current Part-Time Language Instructors (ILOB/OLBI).

Requirements

B.A. with a specialization in a field relevant to teaching French as a second language (L2) or a higher certificate in teaching French as a second language (L2).
Two years of experience teaching French as a second language (FLS) at the college and/or university level.
Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent FLS course.
Experience with heterogeneous groups.
Acceptable level of training/experience may be considered equivalent to the required training and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

Teach elementary French for false beginners, focusing on reading and listening comprehension.
Utilize audio(-visual) materials and short texts for instruction.
Incorporate authentic documents and situations from the health sector.
Facilitate individual and group practice activities.
