About The Position

This is a part-time language instructor position for the Fall 2026 semester at the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the University of Ottawa. The course, FLS2812 Section F, is an intermediate French course focusing on the four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. The course is delivered in person and is tailored for the real estate department. It aims to reinforce linguistic code (pronunciation, spelling, grammar, vocabulary) through various activities such as free conversation, role-playing, authentic communication tasks from the real estate sector, and writing assignments. The curriculum involves exploiting and revising linguistic features of different text types, observing these patterns, and applying them in reading tasks. Authentic documents and situations from the university environment will be used, with both individual and group practice. The course runs from September 8 to December 17, 2026, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The posting is limited to current Part-Time Language Instructors (OLBI). The hourly rate is $115.43 (2024-2025 rates), subject to collective agreement ratification. Requirements

  • B.A. with a specialization in a field relevant to teaching French as a Second Language (L2) or a higher certificate in teaching French L2.
  • Two years of experience teaching French as a Second Language (FLS) at the college and/or university level.
  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent FLS course.
  • Experience with heterogeneous groups.
  • Acceptable level of education and/or experience may be considered equivalent to the required education and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Ability to successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
