About The Position

The Institutional Giving & Special Campaigns Assistant will join a 17-person Marketing & Development team raising nearly $14 million annually from individual donors, foundations and institutions, corporations, special events and government to support our free programs in New York City parks. This position will support our Institutional Giving & Special Campaigns portfolio. Reporting to the Manager of Institutional Giving and working closely alongside the 4-person Institutional Giving & Special Campaigns team, the Assistant will support the team to successfully secure and steward grants and donations. The Assistant should be interested and enthusiastic about delving into the world of fundraising, with a focus on grant writing, and will gain valuable professional experience supporting our programs. The Assistant must be available to work up to 15 hours per week between September and December. Start and end dates are flexible. This is a paid, hourly position. Hybrid work required.

Requirements

  • Up to 2 years of development or fundraising background preferred (academic or past internship experience)
  • Must be able to work independently and remotely, using a personal computer equipped with wifi, camera and microphone for video conference calls
  • Ability to commute for in-person work at our office as needed
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, and have strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Interest and experience in writing, editing, and research
  • Proven ability to prioritize and work effectively under deadlines
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. City Parks Foundation does not offer visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong CRM skills and knowledge of Google Drive applications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with timely and accurate data entry and administrative tasks in Salesforce database
  • Assist with recordkeeping, such as filing award letters and check copies
  • Prepare timely acknowledgment letters for received gifts
  • Assist with scheduling internal meetings
  • Support grant proposal and report preparation, especially preparing materials such as photo selections, testimonials, standard financial documents, donor lists, and other common attachments
  • Assist with fundraising events, such as set-up and guest check-in
  • Conduct and prepare research on prospective sources of institutional, individual, and corporate funding
  • Assist with tracking correspondence and progress with institutions and individuals
  • Additional tasks may be assigned based on department need and interest.
