About The Position

The Institutional Analyst is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and validating data from student, administrative, and other institutional systems to support reporting and decision-making needs. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the preparation and submission of state-mandated reports. This includes coordinating with campus data partners to resolve issues at the source, performing data validation and quality assurance checks, and identifying and correcting data discrepancies. The analyst may also assist in maintaining reports that monitor data quality and readiness for state reporting. This position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as the analyst will work closely with data partners across campus to ensure data accuracy prior to submission. The ability to clearly and promptly communicate data issues, assist in diagnosing root causes, and support resolution efforts is essential. This position will also collaborate with the University of Arkansas System on matters related to state reporting requirements, including the interpretation and calculation of specific data elements and tracking ticket resolution for reported bugs. A foundational understanding of SQL is required, along with the ability to write queries of moderate complexity to extract and analyze data. In addition to ongoing reporting responsibilities, this role will fulfill ad hoc data requests and perform other analytical tasks as needed to support institutional priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience with and foundational proficiency in SQL, including the ability to join multiple datasets and manipulate data to produce accurate outputs
  • Experience with and demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and support data quality efforts
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex concepts into clear, understandable information
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented environment
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of experience working with data, reporting, and/or analytics
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Experience with reporting, analytics, and/or business intelligence tools
  • Familiarity with state or federal reporting requirements in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with campus data partners to identify and correct data within our internal process and source systems, as appropriate.
  • Work with team analysts to develop, enhance, and maintain processes supporting state reporting functionality.
  • Communicate data issues clearly and in a timely manner, assisting stakeholders in identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Work with system-level partners to interpret reporting requirements, ensure consistent calculations, and track and resolve reported issues.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and effective documentation related to state reporting processes and requirements.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests and perform additional analyses to support institutional research and decision-making.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
