About The Position

The Institutional Analyst is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and validating data from student, administrative, and other institutional systems to support reporting and decision-making needs. The primary responsibilities of this role include the preparation and submission of external surveys (e.g., U.S. News Best Colleges, Peterson’s, Princeton Review, and others), as well as the development and maintenance of recurring institutional reports published on the team website as official reporting. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of externally reported institutional data. This position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as the analyst works closely with departments across campus to collect, validate, and reconcile data used in reporting. The analyst is expected to clearly communicate data issues, assist in identifying root causes, and support resolution efforts to improve overall data quality. This role may also contribute to the development and maintenance of various Power BI reports to support the ongoing transition from static reporting to dynamic and visual storytelling dashboards for campus stakeholders, leadership, and external audiences. A foundational understanding of SQL is required, including the ability to write queries of moderate complexity to extract and analyze data. In addition to ongoing reporting responsibilities, this role will fulfill ad hoc data requests and perform other analytical tasks as needed to support institutional priorities. This position may also provide limited support for required federal reporting processes as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Experience with and foundational proficiency in SQL, including the ability to join multiple datasets and manipulate data to produce accurate outputs
  • Experience with and demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and support data quality efforts

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of experience working with data, reporting, and/or analytics

  • Familiarity with state or federal reporting requirements in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other departments to collect and validate data for inclusion in external surveys and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit external surveys in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Create, maintain, and prepare official institutional reports for publication in various formats on the team website.
  • Communicate data issues clearly and in a timely manner, assisting stakeholders in identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of reports and dashboards to support data access and storytelling.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and effective documentation related to reporting processes, definitions, and methodologies.
  • Provide support for federal reporting activities, as needed, including data validation and preparation tasks.
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests and perform additional analyses to support institutional research and decision-making.
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
