About The Position

The Armstrong Group is seeking an experienced Installer Technician 3 Commercial to join their team. This role involves completing installations, often working independently or as part of a team, on various commercial sites including industrial, retail, and outdoor locations. The technician will be responsible for installing cabling, field devices, and controls, commissioning cloud-based systems, and performing service calls and inspections, including fire alarm testing per NFPA 72 standards. The position requires strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and excellent communication with clients and team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial security installation experience.
  • Willingness to obtain NICET certification(s) as required.
  • Possess or be able to obtain fire alarm technician licenses for Ohio and West Virginia.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use rotary drills, hammer drills, meters, and hand tools.
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 40', and work in hot or cold environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials.
  • Able to work weekends or 2nd shift depending on job requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Work alone or as part of a team to complete installations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Install cabling, field devices and controls according to specifications.
  • Ensure that installations are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate with managers and other team members to ensure that installations are completed according to schedule.
  • Train and mentor junior installers.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Professionally interact with owners and end users including training stake holders in system operation.
  • Commission cloud-based systems on user's mobile devices and train them in the operation of those systems.
  • Responsible for scheduled service calls and conducting inspections.
  • Performs fire alarm inspections and testing per NFPA 72 standards.
  • Working on large industrial sites, retail, and outdoor sites.
  • Operating ariel lifts, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
  • Working with large ladders and climbing up to 40'.
