About The Position

The Inspector promotes a safe working environment and follows Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries. The role has immediate responsibility for ensuring finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations by identifying and classifying critical, major, and minor defects. The Inspector alerts the Operator to defects and verifies that packaging parameters meet the specifications sheet.

The Inspector safely performs required rework, housekeeping, and cleaning duties, including cleaning the entire line when it goes down. The role supports teamwork by assisting with housekeeping, organizing, packing and transporting corrugated materials, erecting corrugated, and performing rework. The Inspector also assists the Operator with grinding bottles during machine startup, clearing downstream jams, and maintaining housekeeping around the machine and related equipment. During planned maintenance, the Inspector assists the Maintenance department with housekeeping around machines.

The Inspector evaluates work areas for unsafe acts and conditions, takes appropriate action to maintain established safety standards, communicates effectively, and keeps the work area clean and safe. Other job-related duties may be assigned by a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and coworkers.
• Ensure finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Identify and classify critical, major, and minor defects.
• Alert the Operator to defects so they can be addressed.
• Verify that packaging parameters meet the specifications sheet.
• Safely perform required rework.
• Perform housekeeping duties and keep the work area clean.
• Clean the entire line when it goes down.
• Assist with housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated, and rework as needed.
• Assist the Operator with grinding bottles during machine startup and clearing downstream jams.
• Maintain housekeeping around the machine, including grinders, downstream areas, and under the takeouts.
• Assist the Maintenance department with housekeeping on and around machines undergoing planned maintenance.
• Inspect work areas for unsafe acts and conditions and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment.
• Communicate effectively using verbal and written communication.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties as necessary.
• Perform duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
