About The Position

The Inspector promotes a safe working environment and follows Silgan safety policies and procedures. The role is immediately responsible for ensuring finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations by identifying and classifying critical, major, and minor defects, alerting the Operator to defects, and verifying that packaging parameters meet the specifications sheet. The Inspector safely performs required rework, housekeeping, and line cleaning, including cleaning the entire line when it goes down. The position also supports teamwork by assisting with housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting and erecting corrugated materials, and performing rework. The Inspector safely assists the Operator during machine startup by grinding bottles, clearing downstream jams, and maintaining housekeeping around the machine, grinders, downstream areas, and takeouts. The Inspector also assists Maintenance with housekeeping around machines undergoing planned maintenance. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching, and twisting.
Must have the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
Ensure finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations.
Identify and classify critical, major, and minor defects.
Alert the Operator to defects so they can be addressed.
Verify that packaging parameters meet the specifications sheet.
Safely perform required rework and housekeeping duties.
Clean the entire line when it goes down and keep the work area clean.
Assist with housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting and erecting corrugated materials, and performing rework.
Safely assist the Operator with grinding bottles during machine startup and clearing downstream jams.
Maintain housekeeping around the machine, including grinders, downstream areas, and under the takeouts.
Assist Maintenance with housekeeping on and around machines undergoing planned maintenance.
Evaluate and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment under established standards and guidelines.
Inspect work areas for unsafe acts and conditions.
Use verbal and written communication effectively.
Perform sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties as necessary.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
