About The Position

The Inspector helps maintain a safe working environment and ensures finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations. The role identifies and classifies typical product defects as critical, major, or minor, alerts the Operator to defects, and verifies that packaging parameters meet the specifications sheet.

The Inspector performs required rework and housekeeping safely, keeping the work area and production line clean. The role also supports teamwork by assisting with organizing and packing, transporting and erecting corrugated materials, rework, bottle grinding during machine startup, clearing downstream jams, and cleaning around machines. When machines are down for planned maintenance, the Inspector assists the Maintenance department with housekeeping. The Inspector evaluates work areas for unsafe acts or conditions and follows safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow Silgan safety policies and procedures to help prevent injury to self and co-workers.
• Ensure finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations by identifying and classifying typical defects.
• Alert the Operator to defects so they can be addressed.
• Verify that packaging parameters meet the specifications sheet.
• Safely perform required rework and housekeeping, keeping the work area clean.
• Clean the entire line area when a line goes down.
• Assist with housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting and erecting corrugated materials, and performing rework.
• Safely assist the Operator with grinding bottles during machine startup, clearing downstream jams, and housekeeping around the machine, grinders, downstream equipment, and under the takeouts.
• Assist the Maintenance department with housekeeping on and around machines that are down for planned maintenance.
• Evaluate work areas and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
• Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts or conditions.
• Use verbal and written communications effectively.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties as necessary.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
