About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Inside Sales Representative I provides sales and customer service activities primarily to retail customers, using sales techniques and industry knowledge. The role serves customers in person, by telephone, and by email; assists with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges; sells company products and services; prepares estimates and quotes for small packages; enters orders and schedules deliveries; and supports store operations, workshops, and safety practices. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and six months of sales-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of company products, competitors’ products, and company standards.
• Knowledge of product pricing, discounting, and estimating formulas and guidelines.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of basic sales techniques and concepts, with the ability to influence and persuade.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program.
• Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material-handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to retail customers in person, by telephone, or by email, including assistance with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges.
• Sell company products and services and related items; provide material estimates and quotes for small packages such as stairs, decks, fences, and sheds.
• Enter orders into the system and schedule product deliveries.
• Plan and pace work to meet daily, weekly, project, or team productivity goals.
• Participate in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
• Handle simple customer complaints and forward more complex issues to senior staff.
• Assist with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and related activities.
• Follow safety procedures and practices, attend safety meetings as required, and potentially recommend safety improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
