About The Position
Under direct supervision, the Inside Sales Representative I provides sales and customer service activities primarily for retail customers, using knowledge of sales techniques and the building-materials industry. The role serves customers in person, by telephone, and by email; helps with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges; sells company products and related services; prepares estimates and quotes for small projects; enters orders and schedules deliveries; and contributes to store operations, customer workshops, and safety practices. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and six months of sales-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of company products, competitors’ products, and company standards.
- Knowledge of product pricing, discounting, and estimating formulas and guidelines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of basic sales techniques and the ability to influence and persuade.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program.
- Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material-handling equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to retail customers in person, by telephone, or by email, including assistance with product selection, pricing, availability, refunds, and exchanges.
- Sell company products, services, and related items; prepare material estimates and quotes for small packages such as stairs, decks, fences, and sheds.
- Enter orders into the system and schedule product deliveries.
- Plan and pace work to meet daily, weekly, project, or team productivity goals.
- Participate in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
- Handle simple customer complaints and refer more complex issues to senior staff.
- Assist with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and related activities.
- Follow safety procedures and practices, attend required safety meetings, and potentially recommend safety improvements.
- Perform other assigned duties.
