About The Position

Inside Sales is the first point of contact with customers for pricing, production, quality, and delivery inquiries. This role involves fielding all customer questions and concerns by performing various duties to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred OR Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year College or Technical School; or six months to one year of work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with office computer software required, including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite software packages such as: Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to create/modify spreadsheets and formulas in Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, ratios, percentages, and proportions, to practical situations.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Effective analytical skills.
  • Effective organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and multitask on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Read correspondence or receive calls from customers to determine their needs.
  • Quote prices based on customer information and discussions with the Lock Joint Tube Manufacturing group, ensuring Lock Joint Tube can meet requested requirements.
  • Confer with Engineering, Metallurgical Lab, and Steel Purchasing departments to ascertain the feasibility of designing new products, steel availability, and testing requirements.
  • Confer with the Production department to determine feasibility and obtain estimates of cost, production run, and scrap percentage.
  • Correspond with customers to inform them of production progress and costs.
  • Create customer-specific parts if not already produced for that customer.
  • Enter customer purchase orders, ensuring completion dates meet customer desired timeframes.
  • Follow up with customers on late orders, schedule orders for shipment, and provide correct shipping addresses.
  • Manage customer stock inventory programs, tracking customer usage to accurately determine compared to forecast for index pricing.
  • Occasionally travel to call on regular or prospective customers for order solicitation, quality issue visits, or courtesy customer service visits.
