About The Position

The Product Systems Quality team is seeking a hands-on manager to lead system validation efforts for current and next-generation I/O interfaces across Apple’s product lineup. The role drives validation strategy from post-silicon bring-up through mass production and partners closely with silicon, hardware, software, and test engineering teams. Within the Hardware Engineering Product Integrity organization, the role owns end-to-end validation for high-speed I/O protocols such as USB, PCIe, and Thunderbolt. The manager will lead a team known for technical excellence and effective cross-organizational collaboration, sharing technical expertise and providing scalable engineering support to deliver industry-leading products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in validation or test engineering, including 3+ years in a people-management role.
• Strong background in high-speed I/O protocols such as PCIe, USB, and Thunderbolt.
• Experience with lab bring-up, bench equipment, and automated test infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of QA methodologies and practices.
• Excellent presentation, spoken, and written skills in both Japanese and English.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Background in signal integrity, protocol compliance testing, and industry tools/analyzers.
• Proven track record designing and scaling test fixtures leveraging robotics and machine learning.
• Demonstrated success managing distributed or cross-site teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of I/O validation engineers.
• Define and drive validation strategy, test plans, and coverage goals.
• Direct the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of robotics-based test systems to improve efficiency.
• Partner with hardware, software, and system teams to debug issues and drive root-cause analysis.
• Own schedule, resourcing, and risk tracking for validation milestones.
• Communicate validation status, risks, and escalations to cross-functional and senior leadership.
• Mentor engineers and support career development within the team.
