About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 2 works under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and follows standard procedures to prepare medication orders and assist with dispensing and transporting medications. The role also includes sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, using automated and electronic systems, and maintaining required documentation and records. The position is part-time, scheduled every weekend from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with a holiday rotation.

The role is based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, whose pharmacy team works across inpatient and outpatient care, central pharmacy, and satellite locations. Pharmacy staff collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals and use state-of-the-art technology and drug information resources.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Less than 2 years of experience.
• State Board of Pharmacy registration.
• Pharmacy technician certification.

Nice To Haves

• 2–5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality assurance standards and required documentation, and maintain regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assist with medication order preparation, including workflow management, basic preparation and dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Use automated and electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Support inventory activities, including storage, ordering, rotation, beyond-use dating, and cleanliness.
• Pursue proficiency in sterile compounding and/or other advanced skills.
