About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 2, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, prepares medication orders, and assists in dispensing & transporting medications. This position also conducts sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, uses various automated/electronic systems and maintains the required documentation & records. Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services. The hospital is recognized as a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and ranked #2 in the St. Louis metro area by U.S. News & World Report. The Inpatient Pharmacy utilizes advanced technology including Pyxis Connect, medication bar coding, an electronic medication administration record, and Alaris Guardrails "smart" IV pumps. The department also administers an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency program.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years experience
• No Supervisor Experience
• State Bd Pharm Registration
• Pharmacy Tech Certification

Nice To Haves

• Certified pharmacy technician

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
• Pursues proficiency in compounding sterile preparations and/or other advanced skills.
