Inpatient Medical Psych Nurse - Faulkner
About The Position
The 2 South inpatient unit at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital consists of 24 psychiatric beds and provides general psychiatric care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. It is a multidisciplinary, full service, therapeutic environment with an eclectic approach, offering intensive individual, group, family, activity, occupational, and somatic therapies. Psychological testing and ECT are available when indicated. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, an affiliate of Mass General Brigham, is committed to supporting patient care, research, teaching, and service to the community. It is a non-profit, community teaching hospital located in Jamaica Plain. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a designated Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Nursing is required.
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
- A minimum of one-year inpatient psychiatry required.
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with persons who experience behavioral health issues on a secure inpatient psychiatric unit.
- Must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
- Ability to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provides general psychiatric care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients on the 2 South inpatient unit.
- Participates in a multidisciplinary, full service, therapeutic environment.
- Administers intensive individual, group, family, activity, occupational, and somatic therapies.
- Assists with psychological testing and ECT when indicated.
- Adheres to all I C.A.R.E. standards.
- Demonstrates basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
- Utilizes observational skills and ability to set priorities.
- Functions under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
